La Màquina presents its new production: A 1935 Lorca play, reimagined in 2025 by playwright Marc Rosich based on La Màquina’s original concept. Actress Gretel Stuyck stands alone before Lorca’s dramatic complexity, accompanied only by three musician-actresses. This is an acting exercise, stripping words to their essence. A space where language takes centre stage. As a counterpoint to frame Spanish prudishness, iconic Raffaella Carrà’s verses are sometimes sung. This is an approach to what Lorca himself defined as a musical comedy, though it ultimately became a bitter drama.
“There are things that cannot be expressed through words”.
