Unique Self-Expression Through Theatre and Dance

La Màquina Theatre – Dance and Drama School is a training centre dedicated to developing each person’s individuality and their unique way of expressing it.

Dance

Dance cultivates motor skills and brings dynamism to sedentary lifestyles, fostering creativity and expressiveness whilst physically engaging the deep postural muscles that benefit us in all areas of life.

Our educational approach combines classical and creative dance foundations, allowing students to express themselves artistically without neglecting technique—providing the essential groundwork for developing any type of movement.

Theatre

Theatre serves as a vital tool for expression and communication in our world of virtual relationships and disconnection. It offers security and freedom through performance, free from judgement and preset imitations.

Learning theatre helps recapture spontaneity, overcome shyness, boost self-esteem, understand and manage emotions through character work, whilst developing empathy and teamwork skills.

Teaching from the Inside Out

Our teaching team comprises active professionals from the theatre and dance world. We operate in two locations: a school in the city’s expansion district and a theatre venue that doubles as a school in central València. We believe it’s essential to learn theatre and dance within a working theatre and alongside a company that champions this work daily.

La Màquina - An inclusive Dance and Drama School is a space without barriers or boundaries, welcoming students aged 5 to 99.

La Màquina - Dance School

At La Màquina Theatre – Dance School, we apply our Aurea Libertas method (recognising each person’s unique brilliance), building upon the classical foundations of the Russian Vaganova school, as ballet embodies the rigour and discipline that create art.

Connecting with this Aurea requires physical discipline alongside creative freedom and personal movement. This is where La Màquina Theatre – Dance School emphasises developing these tools from early childhood.

The essence of expressiveness lies in one's own movement—each person has their unique style, which is non-transferable.

Children's and Youth Dance

Regular Course September - June (culminating in a final showcase)

Wednesdays 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (Reino de València, 85)

Ages 4 to 9

At La Màquina Theatre – Dance School, we introduce children to ballet discipline and expressiveness. Students begin with simple exercises based on classical dance body patterns, developing coordination, posture, discipline, confidence and, most importantly, imagination and creative freedom. All classes end with creative improvisation.

Using our Aurea Libertas method, students learn ballet steps and positions through dynamic, playful and creative approaches. They learn to integrate dance with music and space, develop group awareness and coordinated movements, and achieve the physical alignment and mental readiness needed to progress steadily in the world of ballet.

Mondays and Wednesdays 18:40-20:00 (Reino de València, 85)
Ages 9-12

Classical ballet is one of the most comprehensive forms of physical exercise, whilst also being an artistic discipline that nurtures creativity.

At this level, students at La Màquina Teatro – Dance School begin working with proper ballet class structure, establishing the foundation needed to develop as a dancer according to their potential. Classical technique is essential for any dance style, as it forms the basis of movement. Through this training, students acquire proper placement, core strength, power and movement refinement that will serve them throughout their lives.

At this stage, students’ creative commitment begins to expand. To support this growth, we introduce theatrical improvisation and performance techniques, as well as pointe work.

Over the years at La Màquina Teatro – Dance School, we’ve learned that whilst technique is crucial, it must be complemented by emotional expression and interpretive character. This is why we delve into each individual’s artistic capacity whilst providing them with the technical tools for self-expression.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 18:40-20:00 (Reino de València, 85)

Ages 12-16

At this level, students at La Màquina Teatro – Dance School develop the ability to memorise varied class combinations and execute complex classical ballet exercises, both with and without pointe shoes. By this stage in their training, young dancers have developed the muscle tone and proper placement that will benefit them throughout their lives, along with sufficient intellectual, musical and artistic preparation to begin putting their efforts into practice.

To enhance their development, at La Màquina Teatro – Dance School we include this group of dancers in selected theatrical productions from our season, allowing them to experience performing on a professional stage beyond the traditional end-of-year showcases.

Adult Dance Classes

Ballet is a time-tested discipline with proven effectiveness.
