Theatre Company

La Màquina Theatre Company made its debut in 2017 with ‘Vittoria’ by Marc Rosich, directed by Rafa Cruz and starring Gretel Stuyck, in València (Spain).

Though young, we are a mature company. Our founders, Gretel Stuyck and Rafa Cruz, began their independent theatre careers in 1995, before establishing their own venture in 2017: La Màquina.

We focus on contemporary dramaturgy, social theatre, inclusion and dance.

Since then, La Màquina Theatre Company has focused on exploring contemporary dramaturgy, strengthening ties with Latin America, and most importantly, cultivating new audiences. We are committed to fostering a love for theatre and nurturing tomorrow’s spectators.

‘I love drawing inspiration from where I work and seeing audiences recognise themselves in it.’

We are passionate about collaborating with emerging playwrights and initiating joint creative processes to engage with the present and envision the future. Having our own Theatre Space gives us creative freedom, while our Theatre Company allows us to contribute meaningfully to the theatrical landscape and share our unique perspective.

We believe in theatre as an inclusive activity, as a space for poetry and reflection. We are captivated by debate, critical thinking, and the power of humour.
